Anjani Mata Mandir, Mehandipur Balaji: Visit the Mother of Hanuman

Many devotees visiting Mehandipur Balaji also take darshan of Mata Anjani, the mother of Lord Hanuman. There are two Anjani Mata temples close to the Balaji Mandir.

Who is Mata Anjani?

In the Ramayana, Anjani is the mother of Hanuman and the wife of Kesari, a king of the vanaras. That is why Hanuman is also called Anjaneya or Anjani-putra, "the son of Anjani". Stories say Anjani prayed with great devotion for a son, and was blessed with Hanuman.

Why devotees visit her

For devotees, praying to the mother is a way of showing love to the son. Many families feel their Mehandipur yatra is complete only after they have bowed to Mata Anjani.

Anjani Mata Mandir on the main road

Anjani Mata Mandir stands on the main road to the Balaji Mandir, right opposite the gate of Anjani Mahal. It is just a short walk from the temple, so you can easily visit it on the way to or from Balaji's darshan.

Anjani Mata Mandir, Ek Pahad

There is another Anjani Mata temple on the hill known as Ek Pahad, about 2 minutes from Anjani Mahal. Ask at our reception for the way when you stay with us.

Our name, our faith

Our dharamshala takes its name, Anjani Mahal, from Mata Anjani. Staying here means waking up opposite her temple, with Balaji's dham just 2 minutes away.
